Altona North is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria. It is located 21 km north of Melbourne’s Central Business District. Altona North’s local government area is the City of Hume. At the 2016 Census, Altona North had a population of 16,132 people.

Located in the City of Brimbank in the western region of Melbourne, Altona North is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is 18 km southwest of Melbourne CBD. Altona North is bounded by the Western Ring Road in the north and east, Mitchell Park in the south, and Altona in the west.

The art deco building at the corner of North Road and Montague Road was built in 1936 and originally was a movie theatre and later a supermarket. In 2003 the building was converted into an eclectic art gallery which is owned and operated by a small group of artists.
A short walk from the gallery is the historic railway station, which is also owned and operated by the local community.
