Richmond is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 4 km north-east from Melbourne’s central business district. Its Local Government Area is the City of Yarra. At the 2011 Census, Richmond had a population of 21,235.

Richmond is bordered by Burnley to the west, Collingwood to the north, Abbotsford to the north-east, Hawthorn East to the east, and Toorak to the south-east. The area now known as Richmond was first settled in 1803. It gained a reputation as a rough, working-class area in the nineteenth century due to the migrant influx, the proximity of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and the presence of the Tiger Tavern.
