Kew East, Australia 

 

Kew East is one of two main areas of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne. It is located in the eastern part of the city, bordering Yarra Valley and the Yarra River. It contains the Kew Botanic Gardens, which are home to over 6,000 plant species, as well as the Kew Tropical Research Station, and the Australian Regional Herbarium of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne.

Kew East is also home to the Melbourne Zoo, a small suburb called West Park, and the Royal Melbourne Golf Club. It is named for the botanical gardens located here. The gardens are also known as Kew in short. 

Kew East has a large proportion of single-family homes and is also home to several large industrial estates. It has a population of about 6,000 and is located around 20 kilometers to the east of Melbourne.

The area is bounded by the Yarra River on the east, Yarra Valley on the north, and the suburbs of East Richmond and Richmond on the west. The main hospital, the Royal Melbourne Hospital, is located in Kew East, as well as the headquarters of the Australian Antarctic Division. It is one of the most ethnically diverse suburbs in the city and is home to a large number of immigrants.
